I have an instagram as well as a subscription to many fashion magazines and looking at the year in review, I would have to say that 2012 will have to go down in history as one of the years with the weirdest nail art trends. Don't get me wrong- I love a good polished nail..in fact I love a good ten polished nails. I think changing your polish based on season and occasion only makes sense. However, if you have reached the point where it takes you a few hours to complete the art on one of your fingernails...I feel like the effort may be leaving the realm of fashion forward/statement making and entering a weird place where the details and intricacy on your nails is in a word...creepy.

So, for 2013, I predict that nails will (hopefully) be headed back to a place of solid colors, understated prints, and slight details on the accent nail. For the record, I will always think that painting your ring finger a different color that coordinates well with the rest of your nails (i/e an accent nail) will always be in style.
So this simple nail style that I sported a few weekends ago is currently one of my favorite manicures.
I painted all ten nails with two coat of The Balm's "Almost Black Purple". After letting the polish dry for around 10 minutes I applied Sephora by O.P.I.'s "Only Gold for Me" on the cuticle or moons of my nails. I took great care to make sure I was depositing as much glitter and as little clear polish as possible on the bottoms of my nails. After application, I waited 30 minutes before doing anything really involved with my hands to make sure that the clear glitter coat had had plenty of dry time.
These polishes looked great and lasted the whole weekend without chipping. I received a lot of compliments on my nails but most importantly they were simple to achieve and I loved them!
Post a picture of your nails in the comment section if you attempt this or any other nail DIY's. Good luck!
