My new-old favorite shampoo. |
But wait, if the shampoo was so great why was it discontinued in the first place? Clairol, the company behind Herbal Essences, was purchased by Proctor & Gamble in the mid 2000's. The colorful Herbal Essences bottles that have riddled drugstores and superstores alike were designed and launched in the hopes of elevating sales and attracting a young audience. To help with the new image, the 90's Smooth & Shine collection was phased out in 2006. However, despite the brands attempt to boost revenue, sales have been dismal and Proctor & Gamble has decided to relaunch the beloved collection. Even more exciting is that yes, progress has been made since the 90's. Although the bottles and smell remain the same, the sulfates and silicon are not. Yes, Yes!
After using the relaunched Herbal Essences shampoo for a week, I'm completely smitten and have fallen in love all over again. Affordable, nourishing, and a scent not to be forgotten. I am so glad that this beloved 90's favorite has been relaunched. There is nothing like something going away for you to realize just how much you love it. Here's to hoping that Herbal Essences finds success in 2013!
